What's the deal with shillings?

Question: How does that stuff break down? How many shillings in a pound? Do they even use them anymore? I haven't been to the UK in 10 years. And for that matter, what the heck are guineas?

Answer: It's a lot longer than 10 years since UK used shillings. We haven't used shillings since February 1971, when UK went decimal. There used to be 12 pennies in a shilling and 20 shillings in a pound. Since decimalistaion, we just have 100 pennies in a pound.
