Question: In "Raisers of the Lost Ark" the Nazi-in-black holds up his burned hand in a salute, but I had always thought he said "healed at last" and now I understand why people looked at me funny when I said that. Was it some TV substitution (like: "flip you!") to cover the nazi salute or was it alll in my mind. (I was a child after all.)
Answer: If your talking about the part where Rene Belloq and Colonel Dietrich are walking at the Tanis dig... talking about how to motivate Marion Ravenwood in order to locate the original headpiece...Colonel Dietrich says, "It need'nt concern you...I have the perfect man for this kind of work" and as he says that, Major Arnold Tolt (The man always in black) walks up and raises his hand to reveal the image of the headpiece burnt into his hand and says..."Heil Hitler". By the way...That's why Belloqs fake headpiece had the markings only on one side....He used the burnt image to reproduce the fake. "Belloqs staff is to long, he's digging in the wrong place". I suspect that your viewing was the victim of political correctness....Censorship. They dropped in a voiceover "Healed at last" to cover up the original line. Disclaimer....This is a film analysis only. NOT a political view or commentary.
